Our Purpose
The problem: A lack of clear evidence
Technology has the potential to help address the global learning crisis — but that potential is not being realised. Policymakers and other decision-makers facing an overwhelming choice of technology solutions are often unclear on what works and what doesn’t, and are forced to make decisions based on low or no evidence.
How we help: Reliable research and advice
Technology alone is not a cure-all. At EdTech Hub, we do rigorous academic research and give evidence-based advice about how and when to use technology in education. This means that with our help, decision-makers inside and outside government can make clear, evidence-based policy decisions to achieve maximum impact for learners, communities, and to balance cost-effectiveness.

Where We Work
Our work is global
We collaborate with governments and partners around the world to generate evidence and support the effective use of EdTech in diverse contexts.
Big Challenges
EdTech is a vast, varying, and evolving landscape. It’s one of the reasons decision-makers struggle with evidence gaps in EdTech. In order to tackle these gaps in a meaningful and measurable way, EdTech Hub identified five initial topic areas for our primary research focus.
Today, our topic areas are: AI, Data for Decisions, Digital Personalised Learning, EdTech for Climate Resilience, EdTech for Emergencies, Girls’ Education & Technology, Participation & Messaging, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and Teacher Continuous Professional Development. Alongside these core topics, we also provide critical analysis and work on cost-effectiveness for EdTech.
We prioritise these topics because they are timely, have clear application in our focus countries, and have the greatest potential to bring about significant change and close learning gaps.
