Our event discusses the implementation successes and challenges of two research projects in Bangladesh and Tanzania. First, we delve into 3MPower, a technology-supported teacher professional research project led by the Open University, which focuses on mobile learning to empower marginalised mathematics educators in Bangladesh. 3MPower investigates the use of mobile learning as a potentially cost-effective way to implement teacher professional development, covering research questions on equity, pedagogy, communities of practice, and students’ learning outcomes.

Speakers also shared insights from EdTech Hub’s research which investigates tech-supported school-based teacher professional development models in Tanzania. Central to those models are semi-structured communities of learning, and exploration of how these foster equity, agency and adaptation.
