About

EdTech Hub supports the Government of Malawi, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE), to strengthen the use of technology to improve education delivery. Our work includes providing  technical assistance, co-creation of tools and strategies, and targeted research to inform national EdTech initiatives. We collaborate closely with the Ministry of Education, development partners, and local stakeholders to align efforts and scale effective solutions.

Bridging the Gap

The challenge

Malawi has expanded access to education and introduced digital learning, but quality and equity remain persistent issues. Teachers struggle to integrate technology into their practice, especially in rural and under-resourced schools. Learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are particularly underserved. At the same time, decision-makers often lack practical evidence on what works and the capacity to implement it. There is a clear need for coordinated, inclusive, and evidence-informed EdTech strategies that address the realities of all learners and educators.

How EdTech Hub helps

EdTech Hub supports the Ministry of Education and partners to address these challenges by strengthening national systems, building capacity, and generating practical evidence. We provide embedded technical support, co-develop policies and tools, and facilitate collaboration across key actors. Our aim is to ensure EdTech initiatives are informed by evidence, aligned to other successful initiatives in the education space, scalable, and responsive to local needs. We place a strong emphasis on inclusion, working to ensure that strategies and solutions meet the needs of all learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
