Our Theory of Change underpins our strategy and sets out the impact we want to achieve at EdTech Hub, and the steps we will take to get from where we are now, to where we need to be.

It is built around our purpose — to empower decision-makers with the evidence they need to make informed choices about technology in education.

In doing so, our vision is  to help improve learning outcomes for all learners in low- and middle-income countries. By deepening our understanding of what works and connecting theory to practice, we will enable a world where decision-makers demand and have access to evidence, and where effective, equitable, and affordable EdTech solutions are scaled.

At EdTech Hub, we are committed to turning our theory of change into a reality of change. Join us as we build a brighter, more equitable reality for learners, for teachers, for decision-makers, and for all communities.

At the heart of our work lies our Theory of Change — a tool rooted in purpose, vision, and transformative action.”

Four Pathways to Progress

Outputs

Our primary contributions to the global education sector revolve around producing rigorous and practical evidence related to our focus topics.

We aim to effectively disseminate rigorous, actionable evidence to ensure broader adoption and utilisation by stakeholders. We aim to provide valuable advice and hands-on support to decision-makers and implementers. To help create a productive enabling environment, we foster strategic partnerships with researchers and thought leaders to enhance collaboration and collectively advance knowledge and innovation in the field of EdTech.

Intermediate outcomes

EdTech Hub’s intermediate outcomes focus on generating a substantial body of evidence to enhance learning in specific areas, facilitating easier access and application of this evidence by education policy decision-makers. They also provide valuable support to implementers, helping them overcome scaling obstacles.

Long-term outcomes

In the long run, EdTech Hub aims for global decision-makers to confidently possess a deeper understanding of how and when to effectively incorporate EdTech into education strategies. In our long-term vision, we aspire to influence decision-makers beyond their network, inspiring the adoption of successful practices based on EdTech Hub’s tactical insights and guidance. This, in turn, should lead to the widespread scaling of effective, equitable, and affordable EdTech solutions by various organisations.

The standards for what constitutes high-impact EdTech will also rise accordingly, encouraging investments in cost-effective, scalable solutions by default. In this reality, pivotal research will gain increasing recognition and use across the education sector, fuelling evidence-driven knowledge generation.

Impact

Our collective agenda is designed from the outset to help improve learning outcomes for all children in low- and middle-income countries. Contributing knowledge to the sector, providing beneficial technical assistance, testing ideas and methods, and providing critical guidance on what works and what doesn’t, EdTech Hub builds and iterates foundations for successfully delivering quality, equitable education.

In Practice and Delivery

In order to tackle evidence gaps in a meaningful and measurable way, EdTech Hub aligns its work around big challenges using three methodological approaches — Research, Innovation, and Technical Assistance, which act as the common threads that link our programmes across education sectors globally.

We deliver our work using an integrated approach, which connects theory to practice by layering these methodological approaches to not only generate evidence but also test that evidence in practice, which in turn helps us to deepen our understanding of what works and why.
